‘Pinhole photography is a key to creative meditation on reality’ wrote Egle Deltuvaie of this very vibrant culture of photography in Lithuania. This exhibition in the Harbour Arts Centre in the picturesque harbour area of the town of Irvine presents a selection of known and unknown Lithuanian artists linked by the passion and creative exploration of producing art through cameraless photography, with unique formal and poetic results.

Artists include:
Darius Kuzmickas Giedrius Petrauskas Jurgita Remeikyte Ieva Rute Petras Saulenas
Gytis Skudzinskas Arturas Valiauga

NC photography students from Ayrshire college attended a unique session with Gintaras Cesonis and Petras Saulenas at Harbour Arts Centre.  Both artists talked about their work and approach to photography, which offered stimulating insight into their practice and motivations.  This was followed by the creation of a group portrait with Petras' 'Bug' pinhole camera - which can expose 40 individual images onto a sheet of 5x4 film.  Petras has used the camera for the last 10 years documenting new cities he travels to through these multi-imaged 'postcards', some of which are included in the exhibition.  We look forward to seeing the results he sends back.
